Ekiti State University Expels 5 Students For Raping Female Colleague

Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado-Ekiti, has expelled five students for allegedly raping a female student.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajibade Olubunmi, said in a statement yesterday that the students, who were arrested on March 7 through efforts of the university security men and youths of Iworoko- Ekiti, a neighbouring town, had been taken to court.

Olubunmi said their expulsion was sequel to the report of the University Disciplinary Committee headed by Professor W. O. Adebayo that tried them.

The spokesman, who said this had underscored the need for parents to monitor their children closely, reiterated the determination of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oladipo Aina, to flush out bad eggs among the students and staff.
