The murder of late up and coming singer known as Damoche on
Thursday has left the main campus of the Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo,
almost deserted. A visit to the university on Friday clearly attests to that.
A correspondent reported that what used to be a bubbling
campus on a normal day, has almost become a shadow of its own.
The Iba environs where the second gate of the higher
institution of learning is located, and where late Damoche was murdered, is
wearing a dull look.
Few students who spoke with our correspondent under the
condition of anonymity condemned the killing in totality.
“His death is really painful, I wonder why someone would
kill his neighbour,” one of the students said.
Another student of the school lamented and asked, “why would
someone pick up a gun and shoot at his fellow human being, don’t they have a
heart?”
“I really don’t want to talk about Damoche’s death. If all
what I read about him are true, I will rather keep quiet so as not to speak ill
of the dead,” a rather careful student of the school told said.
A student, who said he is an SUG member of the
school via his identity card, urged the Lagos State government to fish out the
killers of the artiste.
He, however, lament that “why would a 400 level student be
killed just like that?”
A management of the school who spoke on phone was contacted. Dr Sola Fosudo, the Director of Communications of LASU, when
contacted, said it is the duty of the police to investigate the matter.
When asked to confirm if the university will be shut down as
feared and speculated by some students over the killing of Damoche at the
school’s main gate, he said, “let’s wait and see if the school will be closed.”
Damoche was reportedly shot dead after a banking and finance
test for 400 level students. His death has raised dust within and outside
Lagos.
