3 Pastors Remanded In Kirikiri For $25,000 Scam

Justice Adebisi Akinlade of the Lagos High Court, on Monday, remanded three pastors at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison, Lagos, till the court hears their bail applications on Tuesday, March 27.

The three pastors; Samson Okemona Ugbara, David Nnanso Eshiet and Adesanmi Richard Aderoju were in court on Monday along with a company, Prince and Zion International Services Limited, for an alleged $25,000 scam.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, slammed the accused with a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy to obtain money under pretence, issuance of dishonoured cheque and forgery contrary to Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, No. 14, 2006.

The anti-graft body said the accused allegedly obtained $25,000 from Angel Estate Residents Development Association in Ojo, Lagos, to process for them a $100 million foreign loan to enable the victim buy a land at Nkwelle Ezumaka Estate in Anambra State, which the suspects knew was false.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges. The judge has fixed May 22 for the commencement of trial.
